Question : How to have my personal host file in a linux server instead of using /etc/hosts

Hi,

Our linux jump box is owned by another team but I have a user account on it.  I manage several hundred network devices and they are not mapped to our companys DNS.  I am not the system admin so can´t modify the hosts file.  Is there a way for me to have a ¨personal¨ host file useable only be me and specific to my own account so that when I do   telnet  myself@some-network-device   it resolves it automatically based on my ¨personal¨ host file?

Thanks very much

ensure both workstations have XP SP3 installed (support for SP2 ended this week)...then install Remote Desktop Client Version 7 on both workstations
