Question : Need to connect two Windows workstations to one scanner using TWAIN...
Hello,
I am working on a problem where I need to connect TWO Windows XP SP-3 workstations to one Kyocera FS-1128 MFP. The customer's webbased application uses TWIN to 'pull' documents from the FS-1128 MFP scanner into the applications client sw and then sends it over to the main server via the internet.
We have the primary workstation all configured and working, but the customer wants to have the secondary workstation do the same thing and to the same MFP.
The previous MFPs were Brothers and looking at the configuration and setup, it appears that Brothers had a LAN compatible driver that communicated to the Brother MFP via TWAIN; the FS-1128 MFP does not seem to have this sort of driver.
We are looking for some sort of solution (Either software or hardware) what will allow the two Windows ws to 'pull' scans using TWAIN.
One idea I was going to test tomorrow in the lab is using a standard USB Hub and instead of connecting the 'input' to the computer, I was going to connect it to the MFP and see if the USB Hub would act like a Ethernet Hub - I am currently looking for the schmos for a normal USB Hub to make sure I do not blow out any line drivers.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or solutions that have worked for them?
Inquriing minds need to know....
