Question : Is it ok to block inetd listening port?
I have IPFilter turning on one of my Solairs 10 machine. From its log file, I have found that traffic to local port 32778 is blocked.
Jul 2 14:07:30 labunix ipmon[2108]: [ID 702911 local0.warning] 14:07:29.919292 e1000g3 @0:9 b x.x.x.x,33189 -> y.y.y.y,32778 PR udp len 20 148 IN
Using lsof, the port 32778 belongs to inet daemon.
# lsof -i :32778
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
inetd 764 root 18u IPv4 0xffffffff9dd2b200 0t0 UDP *:32778
I am not confident whether it is ok to filter the traffic to inetd and I would like know any side effect. Thanks!
