I think you must try create circular container to do this, as by default in every flash software I've used by default it is rectangular . As for xml it will not change anything in your appearance of the swf file, since I believe u are using it only to load the contents, unless the xml in question has specific parameter settings to change the appearance of the flash swf
you could also try search for a flash template which can enable you to do this
