Question : 2 Small Business Servers  to run on one internet connection

I am attempting to run a dummy domain for testing purposes only.  I have read here on EE that it is possible to run 2 versions of  Windows Small Business Server 2003 (Premium Edition) as long as one of the servers is behind a router.  This is what I've got:

My CISCO ASA 5505 firewall has one port that is for a conference room and it separates the network from the conference room so that if a client needs internet access, they can get online but keeps them from tapping into our network.  From the wall outlet that the client can plug into I've inserted a small switch (Netgear safe router).  That connection is then run to my office where I have a D-Link switch.  This is where the dummy domain will go.  I've tested the client computers for online connectivity and they work fine.

IPCONFIG on one of the clients gives me:

Connection-Specific DNS Suffix:  MyDomainName.local
IP Address                                     10.0.0.4
Subnet Mask                                  255.255.255.0
Default Gateway                           10.0.0.1

My questions are:

Since I am not using either server as a mail server (I'm using a POP3 through a third party) when I begin the "Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard"  I am unsure of the settings that I need to get internet connectivity.  It is asking me for a Preferred DNS Server and Local IP address of router.  I do not know what to put in those dialog boxes.

Also, will this server configuration be able to be swapped out for the Original server (I have used the identical domain name) in the event of a catastrophic failure? This is pending I set up all permissions accurately.

Answer : 2 Small Business Servers  to run on one internet connection

There is no way to have a standby server to take over for SBS, because of the unique requirement to have the SBS server hold all the FSMO roles and be the first server in the domain.   A second server would be a whole new domain and workstations would have to be disjoined from the old and rejoined to the new

The solution is to have a) quality server components b) have verifiable backups

SBS 2003 can be restored from back up or I recommend Storage Craft which can assist in restoring SBS to completely different hardware.
