Question : Outlook 2007 issues
Occasionally outlook 2007 does not open but give an error message "The date file was not closed properly. This file is being checked for problems" which goes on for 20, 30, or 40 minutes. Yes, the file is huge but I need those emails. I've been on this question for about a year or so without a good solution. Maybe change email programs?
Answer : Outlook 2007 issues
Allow a little while between closing Outlook & shutting down. Sometimes "back end" processes can hold the .PST file open for a min or so after Outlook seems to have been closed. Sometimes poorly behaved addons to Outlook cna be problematic as well.
