Question : Using more memory on x64 VM's

Hi

We have some applications we'll soon be using that eat memory, so we were thinking of running these on x64 virtual machines (Windows 2003 SP2 Enterprise).

Does anyone know if there are any switches we need to run, either on the guest or on the host, in order for the OS to be able to 'see' the extra memory on a x64 machine after 4GB? I recall there being issues with PAE etc?

Also, does anyone have a very easy to read table that shows the max memory availble for different OS's for x64/x32?

Yes, some guests, when 4GB was allocated to them, weren't seeing the full 4GB. So, the /PAE switch in the boot.ini needed added. Here are a couple links if you're interested in reading about it further:

Also, I neglected to mention, you will need to make sure your host has Intel-VT or AMD-V enabled for you to be able to run x64 VMs.
