Question : Installing the SBS 2008 server (off location) prompts for migration if installing in existing domain...

I'm in the middle of installing Win server SBS 2008 on a new server. It's supposed to come alive in a existing 2003 environment together with 2 new Win 2008 R2 server. The old Win server 2003 (standard) is DC today and as explained here on EE, the FSMO roles should be transferred to the new SBS 2008 server leaving the 2003 server as a DC.

"First phase of installation is finished", But what should I do now when the server installation is asking about installation in an existing domain. I have the server off location without any connection to the domain where it should evetually be. Can I continue the installation and connecting to the existing domain when I move the server or do I have to move it before I continue. It is referring to Linkid 102937 and creating an answer file... Do I need to do that right now? I don't know what happens if I click on "Next" now...

Answer : Installing the SBS 2008 server (off location) prompts for migration if installing in existing domain...

Yes you're right. First you have to run

adprep /forestprep
adprep /domainprep

on 2003 DC and then you will be able to promote your 2008 DC. You don't need to export answer file if you don't want to. It is used for automation install fro more DCs or for server core. But the most important part of this action is, you have to be connected to network during dcpromo on SBS :)
