Question : Upgrade mixed mode Windows 2000 forest/domain to Windows 2008 R2 forest/domain
I have a Windows 2000 forest/domain running in mixed mode that I want to upgrade to Windows 2008 forest/domain. I have Exchange 5.5 running on a Windows NT4 server ( Not a dc ) , 1 NT4 client, 1 Windows 98 client, and the rest of the clients run XP. There is a child domain with 2 dc's running Windows 2000 server, the rest of the servers in the child domain run w2k. The 2 dc's in the parent domain run w2k server and the rest f the servers run a mix of w2k and w2k3 with one running the 64 bit version. The databases are SQL 2000, SQL 2005, and SQL 2008.
What are the steps I need to take ? And what hardware would be great for the dc ?
