Question : SQL 2008 Maintenance Plan, edit backup filename
Subj: SQL 2008 Maintenance Plan, edit backup filename
I used the Maintenance Plan Wizard to create a backup of all databases (separate filenames for each database). When it runs, it places the date and time in the filename of the BKF file. I would like to just have the database name without date/time and have it overwrite the old file each time. I cannot find where to edit the script text that contains the commands. If I select the maintenance plan and click Modify-it only let's me change the schedule. Where do I edit the actual SQL command string ?
Thank You,
Denise
Answer : SQL 2008 Maintenance Plan, edit backup filename
That's normal behavior for a maintenance plan backup.
It's better to write your own SQL commands for backup and run them with a scheduled job.
