No, such faults are usually caused by bugs and that can't be repaired through another setting. Also, if the available upgrades don't specifically address that issue (the download site usually lists what was fixed, and they are also normally additive, that means if one upgrade since your current BIOS version addresses that problem, but the newest upgrade doesn't, you can still install the newest BIOS, as it includes that previous fix). Also with modern PC's it is often possible to run the upgrade from within windows, so it may be possible to do it remotely (but it's better to try that only in approval with HP).
