Question : HP 6930p,8440p Hanging at BIOS screen

A few of our companies laptops are hanging at the HP logo of the bios screen.  Typically only fix is to remove battery for 30 seconds and hold the power button with no power source.  Machine will boot fine.  Both models have issue with 0 USB items attached and no docking station in use.

Answer : HP 6930p,8440p Hanging at BIOS screen

No, such faults are usually caused by bugs and that can't be repaired through another setting. Also, if the available upgrades don't specifically address that issue (the download site usually lists what was fixed, and they are also normally additive, that means if one upgrade since your current BIOS version addresses that problem, but the newest upgrade doesn't, you can still install the newest BIOS, as it includes that previous fix). Also with modern PC's it is often possible to run the upgrade from within windows, so it may be possible to do it remotely (but it's better to try that only in approval with HP).
