Question : Where are my IMAP messages going after deletion in Evolution?

I'm using Evolution with Ubuntu 10.04.  I have an email account that uses IMAP settings.  The question I have is when messages are deleted they go into the trash folder just under my IMAP trash folder.  However, when I close Evolution the messages are purged from this trash folder and sent to who knows where.  I use my trash folder as an archive and I manually clean it out every year or so.  I've looked in the preferences and can't find an option for setting where the messages will delete to.  I've only recently began to use Ubuntu.

Answer : Where are my IMAP messages going after deletion in Evolution?

I use Thunderbird in both Windows and Linux and I think it's a faster and better mail client than Evo. In Thunderbird you can select which folder your trash mail should move to. If you need calendar support you can use Sunbird ( http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/ ) or Lightning ( http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/download.html ).

" What's the difference between Sunbird and Lightning? "

Sunbird is our standalone calendar application. It doesn't need another client application to run at the cost of a larger download and higher memory requirements. Because of its standalone nature, Sunbird does not offer any kind of tight integration with an e-mail application, such as Mozilla Thunderbird.

Lightning is a calendar extension for Mozilla Thunderbird. It offers calendaring features directly in the Thunderbird User Interface. Further integration features, such as e-mail invites or address book integration are planned for future releases.
