Question : BES MDS query

We are using BES 4.1.7.  We have a number of different models of device that are given to users, who are spread on many servers. We also deploy about ten apps to our users to use on their BB devices, these are deployed via software configs.

Question - I need to restart the MDS service on one of my BES servers, but I have heard that MDS is the service that provides the integration betweeen the applications, BES and their application servers in our network

Can someone confirm?

Answer : BES MDS query

MDS connection service (CS) provides the TCP transport between handheld and most third party application servers (as well as internal and external website requests from the browser).

So yes, restarting it will cause disruption to your users using applications, but the disruption should be minimal.
