Question : Ubuntu error

Hey all, if i install Ubuntu fresh and receive /usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity cehck-2 exited with status 256...and also gnome power manger did not install properly and i even did sudo apt-get install --reinstall gnome-power-manager to fix it but still have issues, what are my other options.
I am currently installing (for dual boot, and software reasons) windows 7 x64
and want to get Ubuntu x64 to work also...

gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H
Phenom II X4 955 BE
Seagate 750gb sata
G skill ddr3 1333 4GB
This is a brand new (today) computer, any help would be great. I hae limited linux knowledge, taking classes this spring....

Answer : Ubuntu error

Try this and see whether the "256" error goes away.

sudo chmod 755 /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system
