Question : VMware ESX - Cah't SSH & no local console response

Hi,

I have just install VMware ESX for testing and I have downloaded the VSphere client. I was able to successfully connect to the ESX server using the client.

I can't seem to ssh to the machine, I get an error "Network Error" connection refused.
After some reading, I have discovered that by default the root acccount can't logi nvia ssh so I have been trying to access to console while physically at the machine using "ALT+F1" and also ALT+F11 with no success.

When I press ATL+F1 I can see something like this:

ESXi 4.0 http://www.vmware.com
Copyright etc.....
_

There is a blinking cursor there but i get no response from my keyboard.

Any suggestions?
