Question : document  opens  as  read only

Hi all
I have a windows server 2003 domain
When someone opens a document that is already opened it opens it as  read only  
It used to say who has it opened
In the last week this has stopped doing this it just says this document is already opened and will now open in read only
I have about 40 users in this domain
So if I need to edit a document and its already opened I need to know who has it opened as users like to open files and lave them opened
Is this just a setting that can be changed to get it to say who has the file opened

Answer : document  opens  as  read only

There wasn't as of last week, so unless I missed one, SP3 is still it. And yes, you can apply SP3 on a clean SBS box without doing any intermediate steps.

You can also run Windows Update and check the "other microsoft products" checkbox after you install SP3 and it'll catch any update rollups that may have surfaced. UR's are on MU. SPs aren't. With that said, I do *not* recommend turning on automatic updates. But manually checking is a perfectly normal practice.
