Question : Software to find duplicate files.
School client, basic setup with a W2K3 server.
The problem we are encountering is the teachers and students are very 'loose' about creating copies of files basically all over the servers, depending on the situation, and not cleaning up after themselves.
e.g.
\\server\shared\social studies\grade 10\jsmith\essay on shakespeare.doc
\\server\users\home\jsmith
\essay on shakespeare.doc
\\server\teachers\home\bjo
hnson\grad
e10\essay on shakespeare.doc
I think you get the idea.
Is there some software that you could run, that starting from the root of a drive, goes out and looks at all files, and reports back exact duplicates? I guess a lesser thing would be a resulting log file that we could manipulate with Excel or Access, but the former would be preferred.
Any helpful suggestions appreciated,
Thanks,
TN
