Question : Windows XP Pro

Here is what I am trying to do.  I am trying to change an OEM Key code to a vlk key code.
I have found directions on running a repair from my VLK disk to repair windows components. Which should let me then enter my VLK keycode?

When I boot to the disk it starts all the loading stuff and before I even get to the part to hit F8 to accept the agreement. It blue screens with a stop error of stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2542, 0x0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
My antivirus is clean and did additional scans to be sure, I ran CHKDSK /F and it came up clean.
Any suggestions to get past this or to change from an OEM to a VLK Key?

 Thanks

Yes, boot to the VLK CD and run the repair reinstall - like it sounds you've been attempting to do (http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm). The XP version will then match the VLK not the OEM version type.

Depending on your type of VLK media the system will either be pre-registered with the activation status set or request your VLK to be entered. If you get neither you'll have to force XP to request registration by altering the registration status in the registry to get OOBE to run.

What we need to fix first is the BSOD you're getting. This might be because there's an OEM boot partition that the XP install doesn't know how to handle and if so you'll need to do a clean install of the VLK anyway.
