Question : Creating a new Array and Logical Drive

Dear All,
               My server is HP DL 380 G5 with the following arrays:
* Array A - Logical Drive (2* 72 GB HDD Mirrored).
* Array B- Logical Drive (4*300 GB HDD RAID 5).

I need to add 2*300 GB HDD to Array B.
What i did is:
Delete Array B
Add the 2 HDD
Re create the array
Create the Logical drive (RAID 5)
Create the drive in the unallocated space.

The problem is that HP Array Configuration Utility is showing information alert 785:Backgroung parity initilaization is currently queued or in progress....." while the Logical Drive says "Parity Initialization In progress 100%)

Kindly advice

Answer : Creating a new Array and Logical Drive

I don't know why you deleted the array since Smart array controllers support online array expansion but never mind, if it was empty it's probably quicker to delete and create again.

The parity initialization won't complete until something gets written to the disk so just format it under Windows and then it'll start. If you've got Windows 2008 you can creaqte the partition under disk manager, if it's a previous version it's preferred to do it through diskpart.exe so that you can align it properly.
