Question : HOWTO Configure Linux to Authenticate to remote eDirectory via LDAP

I am trying to figure out how to configure system authentication of a new install of RedHat 5 Linux Server I want to make personal workspace for my users on and authenticate their ftp to thsoe workspaces against the Novell eDirectory over LDAP on the remote Server.

I found alot about PAM and I see it is installed there is files scattered everywhere on my Linux system. I just dont know where to begin...

There are a couple of things that need to be done.
First, usually, you will need to Extend eDirectory with the RFC 2307 Schema. See:

Then you will need to configure your RedHat to use LDAP for authentication.
