Question : Internet Speed

About 5 months ago we upgraded our internet speed to 6.0M x 3.0M.  I've had a couple of times recently where the download speed has decreased dramatically to where we could not access some must have resources.  I've been troubleshooting by reseting the modem, asking everyone to stay off of the internet, trying to make sure no one is streaming.  What else can I do to track down the problem?

Can heat and humidity play a part?  Yesterday we had a heat index of 100+ which is not the norm for our area.  Our news stations in the area are reporting that the heat is affecting internet speed.  Is there any truth to these reports?

Answer : Internet Speed

Yes it does but not much, ussualy around 1 - 5 % slower.  It has to do with the heat increasing the resistance in the wire and the physicical conductors (the basics).  But it should not be to noticable.  Sounds like you have another issue.  Sounds like you have T1's I would check the ussage report on each line by a website if they provided one or calling them.
