Question : My USB 3.0 cables don't have fiber?
I just installed a 2 port USB 3.0 pci-e card and bought a USB 3.0 super speed cable. I saw on a blog somewhere that you can plug in one end of the cable into the usb 3.0 port and if you look at the other end of the cable you can see the light coming through on the fiber strands. I tried this and did not see any light. So I cut the cable apart and stripped the sheathing off all of the pairs and did not find any fiber. I also cut open a fiber optic network cable and I can clearly see the clear glass fiber strands inside that cable. Do not all USB 3.0 cables have fiber optics? Everything I've read regarding USB 3.0 mentions the use of fiber to achieve the high speed connections. What do you guys think?
