Question : Does file copying over RDP use the host machine?

Hi folks,

I was just wondering, I have a 300gb file to copy over the network.
I've logged onto the server using RDP and started the file transfer from the file share on another server and pasted to the local C:\ of the server i'm logged onto. so basically:

Server (A) - logged on via RDP (remote desktop)
Server (B) - were the 300Gb file is stored (share).

1. Mapped the share in which the file was locaked
2.  Right clicked copy, and pasted to the local C:\ of Server (A).

My question is if this is an efficient way of copying a file?
Are we loosing performance via not logging locally onto Server (A) and copying the file?
I was just worried that RDP might be routing CRC information or other types and wasting performance.

thanks in advance

Answer : Does file copying over RDP use the host machine?

your description would require the most time to copy. Always best to copy large files through source or destination computer.  also don't use cut/copy and paste. Those functions copy file to memory first.   Avoid that and Just drag it as I instructed before.
