Question : Vista Black Screen with Cursor after login - Explorer process is running

Vista Home Premium after virus cleanup:
After login, goes to a black screen with *only* the mouse cursor visible.
Can CTRL-ALT-DEL and start Task Manager.
In Task Manager, kill Explorer process.
In Task Manager, File/New Task Run   explorer
Now the normal desktop appears.

If I start explorer before I kill the initial instance of it, then there are two instances with different memory being used.

I need to get past this black screen startup as the "workaround" above is too complicated for a normal user.

Answer : Vista Black Screen with Cursor after login - Explorer process is running
