Question : solving trig equation - 2 values for x with a positive sine?
Hi
I'm solving this trig equation which after faffing around simplifies to sin x = 1/4. The answer in the book is x = 0.2526 +/- 2*n*pi radians. I get that answer but shouldn't there be 2 answers as sin(x) = sin(pi - x) so sin(pi - 0.2526) (which is 2.89) is also 1/4
So the answer should be
x = 0.2526 +/- 2*n*pi radians.
x = 2.89 +/- 2*n*pi radians.
Or am i missing the point again???
thanks

you are not missing a point. The book missed a point (one point each cycle)
