Question : Converting DTSs to SSIS
I am really starting to doubt the conversion of my DTSs to SSIS
since the beginning of this year and i have been reading alot about SSIS and doing some test with small tables and examples
but now when am trying to convert my production DTSs.
in each DTS there is not less then 20 tables and in each table nearly 300+ fields.
I started getting these conversion type problems, even by using the wizard. and i have to manually convert each and every field.
I dont know why is it so much difficult and takes alot of time to develop with SSIS,
DTS was much faster in development.
all i want to ask, is it really worthed to convert to SSIS, or shall i stay with my DTSs and wait for a faster way of developing tools
all my problems with my DTSs is that i wanted to upgrade my old sql 2000 to 2008 and i have problem with notifications and monitoring.
if not SSIS is there a better ETL tool, where i can use.
Thanks alot in advance
Answer : Converting DTSs to SSIS
you said that you haven't any problem in migrating your DTS packages to SSIS now.
OK. so let's go on DTS vs SSIS, and what you will loose without SSIS, this can help you:
