Question : video and music stutter

Okay, here’s a puzzler.  Installed a new hard drive in a Dell Inspiron B130 notebook and now I get stuttering from Internet music and videos.  No stutter from DVD musicals.  Went to all the forums and tried:
•      Re-installing Sigmatel codecs
•      Installing new WLAN device drivers
•      Disabling WLAN device
•      Installing new firmware for DVD player
•      Disabling DVD player
•      Putting disk in DVD player and leaving it there
•      Installing new video driver
•      Configuring power management to “Always On”
•      Placing notebook on lawn during full moon and circling it while saying “I divorce thee” three times
Any ideas?

I'll assume that means they can see the same videos just fine.  Barring weird things like forgetting to put some memory back in, I'd either ask for a new drive or do a complete re-install.  Any way to do disk diagnostics?

If you didn't do the replacement yourself, it wouldn't hurt to virus-scan the machine.
