Question : how to fix data overflow error when DTS transfers table from Access 2000 to SQL 2000
I am receiving this error message when using DTS to import data from an Access db to SQL:
Error at Destination for Row number 1172. Errors encountered so far in this task: 1.
Insert error, column 20 ('Test Date'), DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP), status 6:
Data overflow. Invalid Character value for cast specification.
I tried to update NULL date field to '1/1/1900' in Access and then use DTS, Or copy data to Excel and then use DTS, the eroor is the same. After I search website, this problem is well known. Mircosoft is aware of this problem (

). It doesn't give any workable solution. Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Donnie - That will probably work as long as you have the additional 4 pin power plug if it is required. In any case it won't hurt to try.
