Question : ERROR: Windows Live Messenger has stopped working

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I've been getting this error ever since this morning and I have no idea why. It was working normally when I decided to close it so it wouldn't lag my game. About 15 minutes later I go to run it again and I've been getting this error.

I don't believe any third party applications are causing the problem and also, I have tried uninstalling, re-installing and repairing and it still does not work.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer : ERROR: Windows Live Messenger has stopped working

Try this:-

go to start-> run and thype this %userprofile%\local settings\application data\microsoft

locate the windows live contacts folder and delete it
