Ok, I was able to figure out the problem, although it seems kind of nonsensical. After trying different settings with SSL on/off, HTTP redirects, etc. it seems that what fixed the problem was just changing the HTTP redirect on the Default web site to include the owa directory. Somehow this was working in the RTM version of Exchange 2007 but maybe with SP3 the path had to be explictly stated.
