Question : replaced HD on PE2650 and rebuild completed - LED still indicates E0D76 Drive Fail

Windows 2000 Server SP 4, RAID 5 (this displays at reboot)
PERC Subsystem 2  PERC 3/Di Controller
3 Disks 33.92 GB

After Amber lights on server, found in Event Viewer that  Array Disk 0:1 was offline, and Virtual Disk is no longer redundant.

After troubleshooting with Dell support - replaced drive 0:1 with a new one (same size), rebuild completed after four hours, and all lights are good (except LED) with no errors in event viewer and none in Array manager that I can find.

After this, the LED is still reading 'E0D76 PE2650 DRIVE FAIL'.   I realize it is rare but possible that another drive is bad, but it is not obvious if that is the case.

I've also asked Dell this question, but the response is a little slow from them.  I'm just wondering if I should be able to 'reset' the LED message to see if it re-appears, and if so, how?

Answer : replaced HD on PE2650 and rebuild completed - LED still indicates E0D76 Drive Fail

The other disk has the exact same probability of dying as the one you just replaced ... same I/O patterns, same duty cycle, same temperature, same hours of operation, etc..   So don't dismiss it as being a fluke.

I would not do anything to rock the boat at this point, like turning it off and powering up again.  Power cycles are pretty stressful.  Personally, I would perform a full backup and order a replacement disk and make it a hot spare, just in case.

After the backup is complete, then you can try a power cycle, assuming Dell doesn't get back to you sooner.
