Question : How does WPF.XAML compare to Silverlight.XAML?
Last year I did research with ASP.NET 3.5 and found that my employer was better off sticking with ASP.NET for the web app. and WinForms for the Windows app. rather than attempting to generate a single XAML that ran on both WPF and Silverlight. The hope was that our two development efforts could be merged into one. But with WPF 4.0, I read on Scott Gu's blog it's getting better:
Controls for Building Rich Clients
WPF 4 adds a variety of new controls that make building rich line-of-business applications for the client easier and faster. The new, richer control set includes LOB essentials such as DataGrid, DatePicker, and Calendar controls. These new controls are 99% API- and behaviorally-compatible with their Silverlight counterparts, enabling developers to create a consistent experience across the client and web while optimizing workflow by reusing code between Silverlight and WPF implementations.
My question is whether the XAML used to define the other controls was also changed to be more Silverlight like? Or aside from these new controls, are the dialects of XAML used still too far apart to use them cross platform?
Thanks,
