Question : Networking Canon Printer

I have an Canon Imagerunner C3220 printer networked in the office to some XP machines. When the network router was changed from a web/mail server to a simple Netgear ADSL router the printer stopped working.

I've gone into the printer's systems settings > network settings and tried changing the IP however it seems I need to configure some other things for it to work. Is there a way to reset the network settings or allow it to auto configure the IP? Is there a way to check if its setup correctly? When I do a device list in the Router admin I can't see the printer.

I think it supposed to come with some Canon scangear software - do I need to install this again to set it up the network printer? The computers were already setup for the old printer

I'm kinda lost as I don't have any of the printer's cds/manuals and after hours of searching on the net I still can't get a copy of the "Network Guide" that comes with it. (Not even from on the Canon site! It have found a reference and quick start guide but they all refer you to the "Network Guide" for setup info)

Does anyone either have a copy of this guide, or have some network setup instructions? Maybe there is an equivalent printer guide in the Imagerunner series that I can use?

Thanks in advance!

Answer : Networking Canon Printer

We'll need to know a bit about your network...

From a PC which is connected to the network, can you go to a Command Prompt (its in the start menu) and then type:
ipconfig /all

Please post the results of this command.

Also if you still have the printer setup on your PC some screenshots of those settings would be nice.  And the printer should have in its menu's the option to print the configuration.  What I'm wanting to know is what the current network settings are for the printer.

It would be best to set the printer with a static IP but if you're in a hurry to get it working then here is what you could try before doing the above.  Download this:
http://downloads.canon.com/cpr/software/ir/PCL5e-c_v8.70_Win2k-Win7_INF.exe
And run it and it should extract somewhere, then run the setup.exe and follow the wizard.  At some point it will search your network and may find the printer and set it up for you.  If not, then we'll definitely need more information about your network to help you.
