Question : Moving iTunes Library to a New PC
I am moving from one Win 7 machine to an new Win 7 machine. Using Windows Easy Transfer I have copied the iTunes library file from that indicated in iTunes on the old machine (under Preferences/Advanced) to a similarly named folder on the new machine. I then pointed the new installation of iTunes (on the new PC) to the resulting folder on the new machine (Preference/Advanced) and authorized the new computer on my iTunes store account. I restarted iTunes but it does not recognize that it has the newly created library. I tried to Consolidate the new Library but it does not respond. Any advice would be appreciated.
Answer : Moving iTunes Library to a New PC
On the 'File' menu, 'Add Folder to Library' should do what you want. That makes a list of the tunes and puts it in the database. Until you do that, iTunes doesn't know about the files.
