I am looking for a software solution that can be used to track the following:
Server hardware information
Server software/OS
When / Which MS updates are installed
When / What software is installed or updated
When / What issues occured, troubleshooting tips, and resolution information
Other Server info (location in AD, physical location, Model, POC info)
We have an inspectible requirement to maintain a log of every single change made to a server. Right now we track the MS updates on a spreadsheet, issues/troubleshooting in an Access Database, Baseline in a word doc, and other server info in other spreadsheets. I would like to combine all of these different documents into one database or something so that the data can be easily entered and reported on. I considered learning enough SQL to create something but wondered if anyone else is using a 3rd party software/database solution for this need and how well it works for you.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
