Question : Linksys Wireless Router does not work with my cable modem

Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G2

i used to have it hooked up and working just fine with broadband cable that was routed to my unit in a complex via a common switch.

now i just moved to a single-dwelling house, and i have my own cable modem.   the cable modem is working just fine.  when i have cable modem directly connected to my computer via an ethernet cable from the modem to the computer, it works great.

but when i take that same ethernet cable and move it from the computer to the wireless router, i can no longer get internet connectivity.

i've rebooted (power cycled) all components a number of times.   but when i connect the cable modem to the router, there's no longer a "link" light visible on the cable router.  the "link" light is visible when i connect the cable modem to the computer directly.   when using the router, i can not connect via wireless or even via another hard wire connection from the router ethernet ports

the wireless router looks like it's broadcasting.  i can pick up 100% signal from it on any wireless enabled computer.  ive turned off encryption.   it looks liike the signal is there, but there's no connection to the internet whatsoever.

this is a relatively new router not quite 1 year old.   like i said it was working just fine 2 days ago before we moved it to the new house.  And I know the wireless enabled computers work because i can pick up and use the unencrypted wireless from my neighbor.

any hints as to what to do?  i dont really want to buy another router.

thanks

Try resetting the router to factory default settings. I found some instructions here:

Good Luck!
