Question : IE 8 Search Provider box search button does nothing

I use the search provider part of IE8 all the time, and I have Google set as my search provider.  Suddenly, it stopped working.  I type in my search criteria as usual and either hit enter or click the magnifying glass to kick off the search, but nothing happens.  I've tried using different search providers and that doesn't work either.  I can't find anything on this in my searching.
