Question : solid state hard drive

I don't know much about the solid state HDs these days.  Are they better to run my os in my desktop vs. a raptor or a faster sata drive?  Is that a good idea?

There are windows macro recorders that would record you screen steps and you might be able to use this for your program.  Not sure how good they are though
