Hello, I recently began receiving these Winsock errors. I looked at the other E-E questions on this and tried the netdiag /test:winsock which shows all in normal. I added Opendns to my network about a month ago, but not sure if that causes the issue. They dont seem to be related. The only thing that seems to temporarily fix it is restarting, and that is interferring with the stuff Im doing on my pc. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks, Mark88 While this error is happening, I am: - Able to ping a site - Able to use IM

There are "share" permissions, which allow you to connect to teh share itsefl, then there are file level permissions on the files/folders in the share. I like to think of the share as a gate, once inside there are cabinets where you need extra access to get at them. Security is assigned either within the context of a domain, where security is common across multiple servers, or local where it is defined on each and every server. That's prett high level but hope it helps.
