Question : Can't access Microsoft windows update website anymore?

I just recetly got finished cleaning up a clients computer that was infested with malware, fake alerts, viruses.  After several hours I've got it cleaned up and working great, but I cannot access Windows updates......

Anytime you click the Windows Update link in IE7 or try to go to update.microsoft.com or windowsupdate.com it comes back with Page Cannot Be Displayed......

I don't have any trouble going to any other websites or doing antivirus updates or malwarebytes updates......It seems to me that something has gotten on the laptop that is some kind of domain blocking software or address redirector.....Malwarebytes doesn't turn anything up in the scans.

Anybody have any ideas what might be causing this to happen and how to get rid of it?

Thanks

Answer : Can't access Microsoft windows update website anymore?

Could be still some remnants left in there, or maybe just some setings needs to be change back to default.

Try running these tools to make sure the system is really clean, show us the log to check.

1.  Please download ComboFix by sUBs:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log and attach it in your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
