Question : iPad will not sync with Exchange 2003

I have two new iPads. Got them on our WiFi with a good connection. Piece of cake
I tried to configure email with exchange. Will not connect to exchange
I tried connecting with OWA while on the LAN and it would not connect using a laptop and desktop
Away from the LAN I can use OWA. On the server I created a new Zone rd800.org (which is our domain name) I created an A record email - 192.168.1.108 (Our exchange server) I also created an A record remote - 192.168.1.108.
Now all laptops and desktops while on the LAN can use OWA. Now back to the iPad.
Exchange setup is:
email: [email protected]
Server: emal.rd800.org
Domain: blank
password:
SSL is on

I added yahoo and AOL account they they both work
Cannot get Exchange to work.

Help?
