Question : No Networking Installed on Windows 2008 VM After Migrating From VMWARE Server to ESXi Server
Greetings:
I'm very new to vmware, so please forgive the question if the answer is obvious. I've not found any answer in vmware's knowledge base.
1) I am attempting to move a virtual machine from vmware server to ESXi. It's running our mail server, exchange 2010 on Windows 2008R2 so it's a critical vm. The target machine is a Dell T310 with a Perc/6 controller and quad core processor, and is already running multiple VMs without any difficulties.
2. My first attempt to move was to copy the virtual machine and all associated files to an empty datastore on the new machine. I got errors about "did you forget to import.." and reading online suggested that I use the converter stand alone client, which I did, to convert the vm. Once done, the moved machine boots fine.
3) However, the problem gets strange from there; when I start the virtual machine, there is no network connectivity at all. IPCONFIG returns "media disconnected. I have messages claiming that no connections are available. If I try to start the networking snap-in, the snap-in simply goes white and locks requiring I kill the process from task manager. If I try to edit the machine settings, the VM will no longer start at all.
I would really appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Uninstall Tools; Change the OS to solely Windows 2008. See if that works...
