Question : msoutlook 2007 data file do not compress

my MS outlook 2007 data file size is around 8 gb . i have created two arched files and moved
my older emails. My archive file size is around two gb each.
But when i compress my main outlook file it sizes reduces by only 1 gb.
I hope i should be reduce by 4 GB.
Kindly suggest how to reduce more  size.

Sheesh - I did say stupid question but still worth asking, worse things have happened.

Not as far as I know but then again there is no logic to it not workingh from within outlook either since it works for me, (within outlook) routinely.
