Question : Need to find USB External Enclosure for 2.5" 15mm SATA drive

I have gotten a Seagate Freeplay 888GB 2.5" SATA bare drive but is is a non standard height - it is 15mm while most enclsures I am finding support 9.5mm and some 12.5mm. hard drive model is  Seagate ST9888430AS and apparently these are not sold as a drive by themselves but included in their Seagate FreeAgent line of external backup devices. In fact Seagate's website doesn't show that they even make this drive! Does anyone know of an external USB 2.0 enclosure that I could get to use this drive? I would like a USB or esata external enclosure that can fit this drive. The height is the only non standard measurement on the drive, rest are standard laptop drive measurements.

Answer : Need to find USB External Enclosure for 2.5" 15mm SATA drive

Yes, I have several of the docking stations and any drive - 2.5" or 3.5" - fits fine AS LONG AS THE SATA CONNECTORS are in the "standard" spot -- which is almost certain.

If the drive is too thick for the small 2.5" cutout (which it may be -- the cutout is about 12.5mm on my BlackX dock), the hinged cover will simply drop down to accomodate it (just as it does for 3.5" drives).    It is NOT a problem -- the drive could be 1" thick and it woudl easily fit.
