Question : Exchange 2010 & GroupWIse 7

Hi

Can anyone tell me the best way of linking Exchange 2010 into an existing GroupWise system? We are currently investigating the possibility of migrating to Exchange 2010 from GroupWise but need to run the 2 systems together with minimal disruption.

Thanks
JP

Answer : Exchange 2010 & GroupWIse 7

Have you built the Exchange 2010 system yet?  Created the Exchange Organization?  If not DON'T.

Create your Exchange system on 2003 and on a different server install Exchange 2010 into the Exchange 2003 created organization.

On the Exch. 03 install the Novell client, and download and install the Novell GroupWise gateway for Microsoft Exchange.  Configure it using the docs provided by Novell and follow them to the letter.

This gateway is the only way to do bi-directional busy search/free busy; native exchange of messages between the systems, and full address book sync between the two systems.  The Microsoft Connector for GroupWise doesn't work and if it would, it requires the Novell API Gateway which is a NetWare NLM only deal.

Since you can't put an Exch. 03 into an Exch '07 or '10 created org, only the other way around, you must start with '03 and add '07 or '10 on another server.

I'm working on just such a project where there is 60 users in Exch and 600 users in GW and a migration is planned but not for a while so we must integrate the two together.
