Question : Socket problem???
My neighbor brought his computer to my home and I connected it to my LAN. The connection to the LAN is established and ipconfig /all shows normal values.
HOWEVER, I cannot connect to any websites! If I use a domain name URL, I get ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED but if I use a dotted quad. I get ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED.
I can tracert with the dotted quad.
ipconfig /renew fails with "An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket."
I ran winsockxpfix.exe (

to no avail.
Is it possible to resolve this by a system restore back to when the computer was working properly?
Thanks.
