Question : Difference between 3d modelling and 3d at cinemas

Hi,

This may seem a bit of a strange question but im trying to get my head around 3d modelling you see done by 3d software such as 3d max etc and 3d you see at the cinema.

They are boith classed as 3d but why is 3d at the cinema so much more realistic i.e. its more in your face. Why is 3d at cinema for example not classed as 4d??
