On the topic off Insert, I shamelessly quote and google translate something Swedish community member "frjo" said recently: (I corrected some of googles most obvious translation errors)
Image Field allows you to create image fields that you upload images to. Image Field is File Field based so you need it too. Both of these are built into Drupal 7, future-proof, in other words.
Image Cache makes it possible to automatically create and crop images (and lots of other things too). You upload a large original image and can then bring up the "presets" that creates a copy that is, for example. 200 pixels wide, one which is 64x64 pixels, etc..
What makes this a really cool feature is that you can change the "presets" to imitate hand. Say you have a blog_thumbnail preset scales down images to 150 pixel width and a year later, you will because you want them 200 pixels wide instead. Change the value, click the "flush" and presto, all the new thumbnail size. Just a bit easier than doing all the manual.
Inline makes it possible to insert the image tags in the text for the images you have uploaded an image field by a button. Insert integrates nicely with Image Cache so you can give users a number of different presets to choose from when they insert pictures.
