Question : making additional monitor the "main" monitor when connected to a laptop

I am using a Mac and I use an additional monitor that is connected to the laptop.  In Mac, all my programs open in the main computer.  I can move the window to the additional monitor but cannot move the "controls" across the top of the program to the additional monitor.

For instance when using Dreamweaver.... I can move the page of code to the additional monitor but when needing to insert/ modify etc. those controls are across the top of the laptop monitor and cannot be moved.

Answer : making additional monitor the "main" monitor when connected to a laptop

Head to system preferences > display, then click on the arrange tab (it should be on the primary monitor, in this case, your laptop screen).

Click and drag the white menubar strip to the external monitor - this will move the menubar are dock to your external monitor.
