Question : eCommerce in .NET

Hello group,

What are the requirements as far as skills in .NET (using C#, ASP.NET) to implement an e-Commerce system?
I have done coding in C# only in client mode but some experience with VB.NET for online application. How hard would that be to use MVC and C# to create such a project?

Any advice is appreciated.
